Make a VIDEO for Your Website For FREE ... and
within minutes...
Andria Bolton …
Allow me first to introduce myself … I have been involved with the
‘Property Market’ for five years … and I have constantly tried methods to
improve sales. I am the same as anyone else and could spend thousands of pounds
on sophisticated gadgets to enhance sales. But how, as a smaller agency,
could I compete with the multi rich super agents who have £millions as an
advertising budget.
Play SMARTER !!!
I
can now make my website look professional and user friendly. User friendly
being the key element! Within this world of ‘short attention spans’ we
need to capture someone’s attention immediately.
So
here is the STEP by STEP Guide…
There are two choices:
A
30 second video length for FREE, which can ONLY be uploaded to YOUTUBE. DO
NOT FRET … This is a BONUS as this helps your plight to advertise your
business. From Youtube you can get the videos official location and paste
that code into your website and the video will show and play on your
website… (All will be explained later)
OR
Use a full length video which can vary from one minute to ten minutes. The
actual cost for a longer video is $3 as the WEBSITE is hosted in the US.
But for $30 (£20) you can have a full years subscription and do as many
videos as you want.
The purpose of this guide is to explain how to do it for FREE … The paid
for method is very similar and pretty much self explanatory, so long as
you use the basics of the FREE instructions.
The 30 second video will use about 9 photos. Should you wish to allocate a
short text message this will take up one photo slot. The full length
videos can take as many photos as you need.
STEP by STEP GUIDE
Before we start, No 19 states an important step … and that is to give a
description to the video. As this is an important step it is wise to have
this information beforehand, so that no hasty written note is made on the
spur of the moment.
What is required is - Title and Description
Here is what I would do:
TITLE = Villa in Palma Nova, Majorca
DESCRIPTION =
http://www.MYWEBADDRESS.com/ - Providing detailed information on
Villas in Palma Nova, Majorca. Specialists in Discounted Property, Luxury
Villas and Off Plan Apartments.
You’ll also need to sign up for a free account at this Video WEBSITE– It
is wise here to sign up using your company name, for example: 1st
Choice Galicia.com. As this is shown in the credits at the end of the
video.
You will also need to open a YouTube account – see No. 22 – do this now if
you don’t know how to open several browser windows later on.
-
Whilst I have not experimented with varying
picture sizes, I have tried to keep the picture sizes the same, although
I don’t think it matters too much. I have kept them to 450 x 350 pixels
– landscape.
-
I can suggest a superb piece of photo software
that you can download for free to trim photos. Use this download web
address:
http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm - if you have your
own software, then use that and jump to number 6.
-
Once IrfanView is downloaded, install and open.
Top right next to the X to close the program is a square box to maximize
the application, click on this.
-
Go to top left icon and open a file. Navigate to
where your photos are on your computer and open. One the photo is
displayed, should you wish to crop the photo to a desired landscape
shape, hold your cursor over the photo and left click and drag to
produce a frame over your desired location. Let go of the left click
when happy. Go to EDIT on the top menu and click ‘crop selection’. Now
go to image resize/resample. In the box that appears you can adjust the
size here. Here is a tip … should you want exact measurements every
time, there is a default tick in preserve aspect ratio, unclick this and
try the measurements 450 x 350 pixels. It may distort the photo, but you
can click edit undo from the menu bar to return to its original.
Sometimes the distortion is small and not noticeable. Save file - see
No. 5.
-
As you resize the photos may I suggest you name
the saved files 0001 to 0009. this is for easy filing and easy uploading
later.
-
This is the BIG one… Go to this Web Address:
http://animoto.com
-
You’ll need to sign up for a free account.
You’ll find this in the top right hand corner.
-
Once signed up and signed in, you’ll be
presented with various menus to choose from. You can either explore
yourself or for your first video continue with these instructions.
-
Top left corner there is a ‘cross’ icon to
create video – click here.
-
You’ll be given two options on the main centre
screen – ANIMOTO SHORT or Animoto Full Length. As the difference is
paying, I’ll stick to showing you the FREE method. So click ANIMOTO
SHORT.
-
It gives you 3 options – to Collect your photos.
You should have them previously arranged in a file upon your computer.
Click – Upload from your computer – it will display a familiar box for
you to navigate to your photos. You can highlight all the photos
required, for the free version 9 is about right. Highlight by clicking
on the first file and holding down the caps bar and clicking on the last
file and they should all highlight, assuming of course they are all
together. If not depress the ‘ctrl’ key and left click each photo
individually until all are highlighted. Click open and ANIMOTO will
immediately start to upload the photos to their website. This will take
a few moments, but you can see the progress.
-
Once all the photos are uploaded, you’ll see
them as small icons in the centre panel. Check they are in the right
order. If not take your pointer and left click and drag the photo to the
desired location. Once you’ve done this you’ll see how easy it is to
alter the flow.
-
There are options at this stage to add text, but
each extra option looses a window and you may not get all your photos in
the video. Of course in the ‘paid for’ version, you’re almost unlimited.
There is no 'limiter' as such on the website that says you have too many
photos fro the FREE videos, but my experiments have found nine to be the
limit.
-
Click continue. This saves the order and give
you a new option to select music to accompany your video.
-
You have two options … you can select from their
library or upload from your computer. I’ve always gone with their
library. Click ‘Select from Our Collection’.
-
Scroll up and down and see the different types
of music available. Classical is a good one for property. Unless you are
aware of the names, click play and you’ll be given the track to listen
to. To choose click on the ‘Select’ circle. ANIMOTO automatically
attributes that track to your video. It may just pause for a moment
while it collect the data.
-
On the next screen, press save to ‘SAVE’ what
been done so far.
-
On the next screen it says - customize your
video – for the FREE version it defaults to the only settings available.
-
Click – Continue – it then goes to a screen that
requires a description of the video. THIS IS IMPORTANT … As mentioned at
the beginning of this Step by Step Guide is this: -
…
and that is to give a description to the video. As this is an important
step it is wise to have this information to hand before, so that no hasty
written note is made on the spur of the moment.
What is required is - Title and Description
Here is what I would do:
TITLE = Villa in Palma Nova, Majorca
DESCRIPTION =
http://www.MYWEBADDRESS.com/ - Providing detailed information on
Villas in Palma Nova, Majorca. Specialists in Discounted Property, Luxury
Villas and Off Plan Apartments.
-
Once competed, you can press ‘Create Video’ –
the WEBSITE then produces the video. A 30 second video may take 2 or 3
minutes to complete.
-
As the next screen explains, once the
‘rendering’ has done it will display your video.
-
Whilst this is happening, open a new browser
window to register for a YOUTUBE account. Go to
www.youtube.com - to register (Sign Up Button) is in the top right
hand corner. It is prudent to sign up using your area or company name.
EG: Property in Majorca or Andalucia. If of course that name hasn’t
already been chosen.
-
The video at ANIMOTO should now be ready for
viewing. I hope you are impressed! Especially for FREE.
-
A FREE account cannot download videos to your
computer. Many people would consider this a hindrance, but it is not,
allow me to explain. If you did download it to your computer, you would
be handling a large file. This file if placed on your website would also
take up valuable space. You don’t need it. For it to be placed on your
website, all you need is a piece of script from YOUTUBE that is freely
available. I'll explain where to get this in a moment.
-
But first, after viewing the video on ANIMOTO
there are several options and the one to choose is to EXPORT TO YOUTUBE
… Here is what is asked of you … Here's how we export your video to
YouTube. First you are sent to YouTube and asked to login & give us
permission to access your account. As soon as you've granted us
permission, you'll be whisked back here so that you can provide YouTube-related
details for your video.
-
Give permission and complete any more details,
bearing in mind how valuable a good description will be – don’t waste
this opportunity by writing some drivel… Select a suitable Video
Category on YouTube ... and VERY IMPORTANT the section for tags, really
this means 3 or 4 keywords relating to your video. I would put … villas
in Majorca, villas in palma nova, apartments in costa del sol etc. etc.
Don’t tick the private button, as you’ll want the world to view it.
-
Once completed click the export button and the
video is imported within a few minutes. A message is displayed saying –
that you’ll be emailed once the upload has finished or wait a few
minutes and click the refresh screen. This refresh button is usually a
blue curly arrow at the top left of the browser window, near the ‘back’
button. Hover your mouse over a few icons to see their value if you
don’t know which one it is.
-
The next screen is an invitation to view the
video on you tube. Click this button.
-
Here is another important section as you get to
view your video on YOUTUBE. As you get directed to the YOUTUBE page,
your video is shown centre page. To the right of your video is a shaded
blue box offering some information about the video. One of the first
items displayed is the word EMBED – beside this is a box with some
script inside. You’ll need to copy this script into notepad or a word
document. Point your mouse at the start, where the < symbol is – drag
holding the left mouse button down across that small box, to include
everything that is there, as it goes beyond the right hand edge. Let go
of the mouse when you’ve reached the end which has the opposite symbol >
- the whole text should be highlighted in blue. Press ‘cntrl’ and C
together ; this is a shortcut for COPY – open notepad or another program
such as Microsoft Word and press ‘cntrl’ and V – which is a shortcut for
paste.
-
Save that file with the script, it should be
about 3 to 5 lines long. If you think you’ve not got that script copied
correctly, take a note of the web address in your browser panel window.
It should be something like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLVZSNI7XYU – you can give this web
address to your web designer who can copy the embedded code to your
desired web page.
-
You can either give your web designer this
script or paste it into the ‘html’ part of your webpage. Once that
webpage is uploaded to your web host the page will display the YOUTUBE
video automatically.
A FEW EXTRA
COMMENTS THAT MAY HELP
Youtube videos ...
These are stored in
your Youtube account. When a property is sold you can delete the video.
Unless you are clever and just amend the details of the video to say, "If
you want Properties - like this - in Palma Nova, then proceed to our
website at etc. etc." It could work at both getting viewers and getting
prospective enquiries for selling. If they see you are active in the
market place, it can secure that their luxury property is put on the
market with you.
Search Engine
Optimisation...
You may have heard
this description bandied about a few times. A part of this procedure is to
get more traffic to your site. Making videos and putting them on Youtube
is one of them. You may want to explore Youtube for your own keywords that
relate to your business; such as - villas in tenerife - apartments in
gibraltar - etc You'll then see the potential of 'making videos' and
presneting them on Youtube. Even better ... you're getting a piece of free
software based at ANIMOTO to do it for you!
Downloading You Tube
Videos...
Should you have a
need to download videos from Youtube and have them on your own computer,
there are several software programs that convert from youtube so that you
can play them on windows media player. Put this instruction into your
search engine "free youtube video downloader" - keep the inverted commas.
I use Moyea Youtube Downloader, I've had it so long I can't remember
whether I paid for it or not; but you can be sure it would have never cost
much.
If your customer or
client wants to view the videos, it is much better to direct them to a web
page than try and attach it to an email.
andriabolton2007 [at] gmail.com - replace [at]
with @ for any specific problems should you have difficulty with these
instructions.
